Topic: How To Get a Fraud Case Prosecuted
Speakers: Tom Herder, Nick Cereby, and Kelly Kruegel

 Tom Herder is the Arizona Sr. Investigator for CaptureINTEL.He is a seasoned private investigator, having owned and sold two successful agencies in Michigan and Minnesota. Herder was the "International Investigator of the Year" with the Council of International Investigators (CII) in 2001. CaptureINTEL's Field Division specializes in surveillance on workers' comp fraud claims, malpractice cases and corporate fraud.

Nick Cereby is an Investigative Consultant at DigiStream Investigations and oversees the Arizona affiliate. He helps DigiStream’s clients use the private intelligence sector’s most innovative investigative tools and research to make critical decisions. Nick has a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with over 4 years of experience in the investigative industry. Nick’s proficiency lies in conducting effective surveillance, in-depth background investigations, and leveraging social media for valuable insights.  

Kelly is a partner with Ritsema Law whose practice focuses on defense of carriers and employers in workers’ compensation cases in Colorado and Arizona. Kelly joined Ritsema Law in 2005 and was named managing partner in 2024. In 2011, Kelly expanded her practice to Arizona workers’ compensation and manages the firm’s Arizona practice group. She provides personalized attention to every client and values a teamwork approach to client relationships. Ms. Kruegel is a regular speaker at industry events including presentations for Continuing Legal Education (CLE), CDLA Seminar, Arizona Self Insured Association (ASIA), the Arizona Workers’ Compensation Conference, and the National Workers’ Compensation Defense Network (NWCDN). Kelly was named a Rising Star by Colorado Super Lawyers in 2010-2019. In 2005 Kelly received her J.D. from Washington University in St. Louis School of Law. While at Washington University, she received numerous oral advocacy awards, including Best Oralist in the Nation at the Burton D. Wechsler moot court competition. Ms. Kruegel was awarded the Judge Amandus Brackman Moot Court Prize upon graduation from Washington University. Kelly graduated cum laude with bachelor degrees in communications and English from Truman State University. She is a member of the Colorado Bar Association and the Arizona Bar Association. Ms. Kruegel is licensed in Arizona and Colorado.
